"His stay in Munich resulted in several paintings, interesting and compositionally excellent, characterized by great drawing and exquisite colors. The works from 1895-1899 are the works of a mature artist, nevertheless searching for his individual style. The area of interest formed in the work of S. Bohush-Siestrzencewicz relatively early. It is the Vilnius region in its provincial, small-town and countryside appearance. In this, he is a typical representative of the Polish artistic intelligentsia, who, deriving their family roots primarily from the nobility's backwaters, did not like cities and were not interested in them. The artist drew from the land of his childhood an endless succession of warm, carefree genre scenes. While in his drawings he immediately found his natural and flowing tone from the depths of his talent and sensitivity, in painting the Munich time was a period of exploration. How apt is the observation of Eligiusz Niewiadomski, who wrote about the works of S. Bohusz-Siestrzeńcewicz: "Subtlety of drawing, and astute observation of life and character of forms, excellent movement and type of horses, picturesqueness and freedom of arrangement - constitute the primary value of these works, surprisingly light in style, veritable impressions [...]" ("Stanisław Bohusz-Siestrzeńcewicz 1869-1927", (exhibition catalog), edited by Eliza Ptaszyńska, Suwałki District Museum, pp. 10-11.)
